Manuscripts must be no longer than 8,000 words, be double-spaced, and have numbered endnotes. Please follow The Chicago Manual of Style, sixteenth edition, using the humanities style of documentation. The author's name, affiliation, address, and telephone number should be listed on the front page of the manuscript. Mailed submissions should be sent in triplicate and are not returnable. Individual Access Instructions
To activate online access, please follow these instructions:

2. Under the “Activation” header, click “Individuals and Society Members: Activate your online access.”
3. Enter your customer number. You can find your customer number on the mailing label of the journal or on the renewal notice. If you are unable to find your customer number, please contact Customer Service.
4. Click “Submit,” which will produce an activation form.
5. Complete the form to activate your access to the products listed. (The e-mail address provided will be used to provide you with important information regarding electronic access.)
6. Click “Send form.”
7. You may now access Duke University Press titles at dukejournals.org. You will receive a confirmation e-mail at the e-mail address you provided.
Institutional Access Instructions
