Pioneering queer theorist Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick was a long-time supporter of Duke University Press. With the launching of Series Q in 1992, Sedgwick (along with series co-editors Michèle Aina Barale, Jonathan Goldberg and Michael Moon) helped Duke University Press forge a new path as a publisher. We are deeply indebted to her and will miss her intellectual energy as well as her friendship.

Many of her friends in the academy have shared their memories of Sedgwick and her work. Cathy Davidson offered a moving tribute on her blog.
