Neuro-Oncology
to increase frequency with 2008 volume

The Society for Neuro-Oncology and Duke University Press are pleased to announce that Neuro-Oncology is increasing in frequency. Beginning with the 2008 volume (volume 10), the journal will increase from quarterly publication to six issues per year.

The journal—whose ISI rating and editorial ties with esteemed national and international neuro-oncology societies continue to place it as the preeminent journal in the field—has benefited from an increase in high-quality submissions from all over the world. To be able to include the additional excellent research that supports the mission of the journal, the editors and publisher have opted to increase the frequency of publication.

“Increasing our frequency will be a boon to readers and authors alike,” states managing editor Kathryn Carnes. “It will allow us to publish more work—including an increasing amount of important work originating outside the United States—within a shorter time frame. It is our hope that these changes will better serve the worldwide community of professionals the journal represents by promoting rapid progress in scientific inquiry and clinical practice related to neuro-oncology.”

Neuro-Oncology's ISI Impact Factor continues to climb

Recently released by Thomson’s ISI Web of Knowledge, the 2006 Journal Citation Report assigns Neuro-Oncology an ISI Impact Factor of 4.939. The new ranking—up from 4.150 in 2005—places the journal 14th among 146 ranked clinical neurology journals and 23rd among 127 ranked oncology journals and confirms Neuro-Oncology’s reputation as the leading journal in the field of neuro-oncology.

Neuro-Oncology provides high-quality and rapid publication of information in all areas of neuro-oncology. A truly international publication with an international editorial board of recognized experts in the field, it encourages participation from a wide array of subspecialties and geographic locations. The journal contains peer-reviewed articles and reviews, symposia on selected topics, published abstracts of annual meetings, and society news and announcements. Subscribers receive free online access with fully searchable text and reference linking. If you have not signed up, review the first-time access instructions.

Neuro-Oncology has been the official journal of the Society for Neuro-Oncology since 1997, the Japan Society for Neuro-Oncology since 2000, the European Association for Neuro-Oncology since 2002, and the World Federation of Neuro-Oncology Societies since 2002. The journal has been endorsed by SPARC (the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition), an initiative of the Association of Research Libraries.
