  • Digital Access & Books Coordinator (Staff Specialist)
    Marketing and Sales Group

    This position serves as the primary point of contact for information regarding Duke University Press’s e-Collections for books and journals. The person in this position works closely with Library Relations, Marketing, and Accounting teams and performs higher level tech support and accounting functions. Additionally, this position serves as the expert for books-related products and books processes, and is also a primary point of contact for training of incoming Customer Relations Representatives. This position interacts with nearly every functional group at The Press as well as with librarians, sales agents, consortia, authors, editors and society members.

  • Job Description:

    A. e-Collection Account Management

    • Build and maintain relationships with collection customers by providing support, resolving access issues, sending usage statistics, updating IP addresses, and activating accounts
    • Perform quality control checks to ensure customer accounts have accurate information and access is available
    • Represent and advocate for customer needs within The Press
    • Create invoices and process payments for collection customers
    • Process trials and special deals for international and collection customers
    • Process cancellations, refunds, upgrades, downgrades, and adjustments on collection customer accounts

    B. Develop Thorough Knowledge & Understanding of e-Collection Models Offered by Duke Press

    • Serve as a resource for customers, subscription agents and consortium
    • Provide information for up- or cross-selling of collections
    • Process trials and special deals for international and collection customers
    • Identify appropriate pricing tiers and/or World Bank status for institutional customers

    C. Specialization in Books

    • Serve as the main point of contact and expertise for all book and ebook products
    • Perform monthly, quarterly quality control checks for books standing orders and e-Collection order entry
    • Provide instruction and document workflows for ebook related processes
    • Serve on ebook related committees/workgroups
    • Process EDI and exhibits orders

    D. Customer Service Team

    • Provide feedback to supervisors regarding efficiency of Customer Relations processes
    • Document workflows as necessary
    • Participate in department retreats and meetings
    • Assume responsibility for special projects

    E. General

    • Make deposits with established accounting protocols
    • Serve on departmental, divisional, or Press-wide committees representing Customer Relations
    • Communicate and respond to requests from internal customers
    • Represent Duke Press at library, academic, or professional conferences

  • Education/Training

    Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.

  • Experience

    Work requires one year experience in marketing, advertising, media, promotions, graphic arts, public relations, sales, or other related background to acquire skills necessary to plan, develop and implement marketing strategies in one or more specialty areas. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
