    Editing, Design, and Production Group

    Duke University Press is seeking a Student Worker to provide general support to the Books Editing, Design, and Production group. This position assists staff members with collating proof sets, checking indexes, checking revised page proofs, and offering general editorial assistance and administrative support to the EDP team.

    This is a paid position ($10 - $12 per hour) for approximately 8-12 hours of work per week between the general hours of 9am & 5pm Monday - Friday.     1. Collating author and proofreader sets of proof
    2. Editing index manuscripts for capitalization and alphabetization
    3. Checking revised pages for accuracy
    4. Special projects at the direction of the editorial production manager and production manager
  • Education/Training

      Education

    • Work requires knowledge of basic grammar, math and clerical principles normally acquired through a high school education.
    • Training

    • Telephone protocol; Office procedures; Correspondence; Microsoft Windows; Microsoft Word or equivalent; Microsoft Excel or equivalent.
  • Experience

    • Experience with Microsoft Office suite, especially Word and Excel
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Attention to detail
