Thank you for your patience. We have restored grace access for institutional customers of our humanities and social sciences books and journals through read.dukeupress.edu. Content for 2018, as well as back content available through term access, is currently available for 2018 customers.

Our current grace access policy allows institutions 90 days of complimentary access while Duke University Press receives and processes payments.


We have discovered an issue with authenticating grace access for institutional customers of our humanities and social sciences books and journals through read.dukeupress.edu. Content for 2018, as well as back content available through term access, is not currently available for 2018 customers.

COUNTER-compliant Usage Reports Currently Unavailable

We have recently learned that COUNTER-compliant usage reports are not currently available for download on the Institutional Administrator Dashboard. We are working with our platform vendor to resolve this issue. We will be in touch when we know when these reports will again be available for download.

Sporadic Access Issues

We have received sporadic reports from customers who are experiencing access issues to Duke University Press content on read.dukeupress.edu. A fix is planned for Friday 8/10/2018. While we work to resolve these issues, we ask for your continued patience. Content hosted on the platform includes all of our books and journals in the humanities and social sciences.

Our online platform for humanities and social sciences content, read.dukeupress.edu, is currently down and customers are unable to access content. We are working with our vendor for a quick resolution and will continue to update this page until the issue is resolved.

Busy Server Message with SUSHI Generated COUNTER Reports

Some customers are reporting seeing a “busy server” message and other error messages when requesting usage statistics. This issue is being investigated, and we will provide an update when we have more information. While we work to resolve the issue, please report instances of any error messages to platformqueries@dukeupress.edu, specifying the time of the occurrence, the username/credentials you used to make the request, and the full error message returned by the system (a screenshot will suffice).

We are continuing to experience some issues with communicating customer entitlements to our new content platform. We will continue to provide existing customers grace access to all content on the new site until these issues are resolved.

Platform Migration for Duke University Press Humanities Titles
