Back to TopMikhail Kuraev was born in Leningrad in 1939. The history and architecture of his native city figure prominently in his fiction, as do details from his personal history, from his father’s work on the dam near Murmansk to his family’s losses in the siege of 1941. From 1961 to 1988, Kuraev worked as a script writer for the LenFilm Studio. His first story, "Captain Dikshtein," was published in Russia in 1987. He currently resides in St. Petersburg.
Margareta O. Thompson is Assistant Professor of Russian at the University of Georgia, Athens. She is the translator of My Life with Bulgakov by Liubov Belozerskara and By Right of Memory by Alexander Tvardovsky.
