An issue of: Journal of Health Politics, Policy and Law

This issue emerged from a conference organized by guest editors Anna Kirkland and Diana Bowman, held at the University of Michigan in May 2012 (“Charting the Future of Wellness Research: An Interdisciplinary Approach to Understanding the Future of an Ascendant Population Health Intervention”). The articles assembled in this issue examine how wellness policies are conceived and ask if such policies can bring about the enhanced wellness they promise. This special issue deconstructs the place of wellness policies within the larger health policy landscape and interrogates their persistent appeal over time. It is particularly timely given the many new “wellness” initiatives embedded in the ACA.
