Special issue of French Historical Studies on European-Indigenous relations in the French Americas. Submit by August 31, 2026. View the full call for papers in English or French.
To submit an article for the special issue or for any other issue, please visit https://mc04.manuscriptcentral.com/dup-fhs. If this is your first time using ScholarOne, you will need to create an account. Submit your manuscript, following the instructions on the site. Articles may be submitted in English or French and should be typed double-spaced, including footnotes (not endnotes), block quotes, and tables. To ensure anonymity, the author's name should not appear on the title page or in the body of the manuscript. Please follow The Chicago Manual of Style, eighteenth edition, and the journal's style guide. Manuscripts should not exceed 10,000 words in length (excluding footnotes). The journal asks authors to cite a diverse range of authors wherever possible, particularly women and scholars of color whose work may have been historically overlooked. Please address any questions or other editorial correspondence to the editors, Christine Haynes and Jennifer Ngaire Heuer, at french.historical.studies@gmail.com.
Please read Duke University Press's "Ethics and Policies for Journals," especially the section titled "Originality and the Use of AI." If you use generative AI, your use must be disclosed in your manuscript in order for it to be considered for publication in French Historical Studies.
